The Market Chose For Us

One of the most dangerous things a founder can do is fall in love with their own opinions.
I know because I’ve done it.
When you’re building a brand, it’s easy to believe you know exactly what customers want. You spend hours designing products, refining ideas, and imagining how people will respond.
Then reality shows up.
Reality is called the market.
And the market doesn’t care about our opinions.
The market votes with attention, conversations, and most importantly, money.
Over the last several months, BTRU has been receiving a steady stream of feedback from customers in the field.
Two designs repeatedly stood out:
NO COMFORT.
PROJECT BTRU.
Those weren’t the designs I selected as winners.
The customers selected them.
That’s a critical distinction.
Successful businesses don’t force products onto customers.
They identify what resonates and build from there.
The market isn’t our enemy.
The market is our teacher.
Every sale is feedback.
Every rejection is feedback.
Every conversation is feedback.
The founder’s job isn’t to always be right.
The founder’s job is to listen.
